Dealing with an insurance claim after an accident can feel like a full-time job. At Motorcare Body Repair we deal directly with your insurance company and manage the claim for you, so that your car is repaired properly and you are back on the road with as little hassle as possible.

How we help with your claim

  • Estimate and images. We prepare the estimate and photographs your insurer needs to authorise the repair.
  • Liaising with the insurer. We send the estimate, answer the insurer’s questions and deal with any engineer’s inspection.
  • Managing the repair. Once authorised, we order parts, carry out the repair and keep you informed along the way.
  • Settlement. The insurer pays us directly for the repair; you pay only your excess.

Your right to choose your repairer

Your insurer may suggest one of its approved repairers, but in most cases you are free to choose where your car is repaired. Some policies attach conditions to using a non-approved repairer — for example a different excess or no courtesy car — so it is worth checking your policy or asking us. Many of our customers choose us because they want their car repaired locally, by a family-run business they can talk to directly.

Claim or pay privately?

Not every bump is worth a claim. Weigh up your excess and the effect on your no-claims bonus against the cost of the repair. We will give you a private estimate so that you can compare the two before you decide, with no pressure either way.

What to do after an accident

  1. Make sure everyone is safe and, if needed, move the vehicles out of the road.
  2. Exchange names, addresses, registration numbers and insurance details with the other driver.
  3. Take photographs of the damage to both vehicles and the scene.
  4. Tell your insurer about the accident, even if you decide not to claim.
  5. Send us your photos or call us on 01744 753333 for a free estimate.

Insurance Repairs: your questions answered

Can I choose Motorcare even if my insurer suggests another repairer?

In most cases, yes — you are generally free to choose who repairs your car. Some policies attach conditions to using a non-approved repairer, such as a different excess or no courtesy car, so it is worth checking your policy wording. We are happy to talk it through with you.

Do I pay my excess to you?

Normally, yes. Your insurer pays us for the repair less your policy excess, and you pay the excess to us when you collect the car. We will confirm the amount before any work starts.

Can you handle non-fault claims?

Yes. Whether the claim is going through your own insurer or the other driver's, we can provide the estimate and images needed and liaise with the insurer or claims handler.

Does an insurance repair take longer than a private one?

It can, because the insurer has to authorise the estimate before work starts. We submit everything promptly and chase it on your behalf, and we will keep you updated.

Should I claim or pay privately?

If the damage is minor, paying privately may cost less than your excess and the effect on your no-claims bonus. We will give you a private estimate so you can compare before you decide.
